The honey industry is on a roll.
A recent study found that the amount of sugar in honey, as well as its fatty acid composition, can reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes and coronary heart disease.
The study was conducted by researchers at University of California, Davis.
“It’s great news that the honey industry has taken the lead in this effort to improve the health of consumers,” said University of Alabama at Birmingham professor of medicine Michael Pyle, who wasn’t involved in the research.
“But what we also know is that honey is a rich source of antioxidants, and it also has a number of other health benefits.”
So, to reap the benefits of honey, here are seven things you need to know about how to properly consume it. 1.
HONEY CAN STICK TO YOUR HEART It’s not just honey that’s made of the right fatty acids.
Studies show that the fatty acids in honey can help your heart beat faster, help protect it from damage and improve its health.
“There are many studies that show that there is a synergistic relationship between honey and its antioxidant content,” said study author Rachel Riesch, an assistant professor of nutrition and epidemiology at the University of Arizona.
“When we get our antioxidants, we’re better able to fight off certain diseases.”
HONESTLY, CHEAPER WHISKEY AND OTHER SUGAR-FREE FOODS CAN BE A GREAT PLACE TO GET A GOOD HEALTHY WEIGHT The health benefits of consuming sugar-free foods are well documented.
“People in the general population are getting fatter and healthier because they’re eating fewer calories, and that’s probably a good thing,” said Dr. Michael Pylons research assistant Sarah Krummel, a professor of internal medicine at University College London.
“I would think that this is the ideal situation for those who need to lose weight.
They need to be eating less calories than they did in the past.”
HAVING A BOOSTED HEALTH CONNECTION CAN HELP YOU GET A WEAKER HEART The research also indicates that honey has an ability to lower cholesterol and raise blood pressure, which is helpful for people who are overweight or obese.
“You need to make sure you’re consuming more than your daily recommended intake of these fatty acids,” said Krumel.
“In fact, if you don’t, you’re actually making yourself more vulnerable to heart disease.”
HOMEMADE FOOD CAN LEAD TO A BETTER HEART Health experts say it’s important to get regular heart screenings to determine if you’re in good health.
Honey is a great source of these tests, which can be done in-home, and if you can’t get it, you can get it from a health food store.
HEALTH BENEFITS OF HEALTHFUL FOODs CAN BE EASILY REDUCED The research found that eating healthful, low-sugar foods, like fruits and vegetables, could help prevent and treat heart disease, diabetes and some cancers.
YOU CAN BUILD A BETTING SINGLE-PERSON STRUCTURE WHICH WORKS FOR EVERYONE The research didn’t look at how different foods or drinks affected weight loss, but the studies did suggest that different types of fruits and veggies can help.
YOU DON’T NEED TO BE A MEMBER OF THE ALTERNATIVE WEBSITE TO GET THE BENEFIT OF THE HONEY The study did not find any specific health benefits from drinking honey from an alternative source.
“The best way to go is to do some research,” said Riesckel.
“If you want to lose a lot of weight, then this is definitely a good idea.”
